September 21, 2011

Just found these pictures sitting here waiting for me to write something about them. It has been 2 years, but I'll do my best quick summary.

Lyda was so excited for Rook to be born. She rarely helps with laundry, but she saw my pile of clean baby stuff and folded them all up so nicely. What a great helper!

This was just before Steve and I left for the hospital. We picked the kids up for school and headed straight over to have a C-Section.

My first moment seeing my sweet baby boy. I always have said he came into this world angry. I'm pretty sure this photo proves it.

First shot of us with our baby Rook. Man, I love these shots immediately following having a baby.

This one is pretty blurry, but this is how I got to recover for the first hour or so. Rook had a lot of gunk in his lungs so he spent that time getting the junk up. Poor kiddo. During this resting time was when I realized how strong this kid was. He was on his tummy and pushed his toes so hard into the bed he was on that he pushed his little bum up in the air and rolled to his side. It was then that I knew why I was so uncomfortable near the end of my pregnancy.

So excited to have brother here finally!

Love these sweet moments when dads cuddle babies.

The day we took Rook home. Lyda was and still is such a great helper.
The worst part about this delivery was that I went home with a spinal headache. There was talk about me staying til the next day because of my headache that I'd been having, but I was determined to go home. I really should have stayed, because I was a mess for a few days after I got home. Spinal headaches are the worst!
