This picture of Lyda makes me laugh because of the hair color choice. Brad and Lisa took her to Disneyland in May and got her hair and makeup done at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. She likes Ariel the best so of course she chose the red hair to add to her own brown hair. This picture shows her spunky side too. She can seem pretty quiet and serious, but makes us laugh a lot. We just can't always capture it in a photo. Way to go Brad and Lisa.
R: There is a truck outside.
M: Yes, it is the garbage truck. It is picking up everybody's trash cans.
R: Oh no, then we won't have any trash cans.
M: No, he won't take our trash cans away, just empty the trash out of them and leave the can.
R: That's perfect.
K: Mom, there is only one thing I don't like about you. That you have to wear glasses.
I took my girls to a mother/daughter night at church recently. At the end the kids sat on the ground in the middle of a circle of all of the moms. I was on the outside of the circle where I couldn't reach them if they misbehaved but they were being pretty good so I didn't worry about my position. As the closing prayer was being said Ruby tooted, and it was loud. So there in the middle of the circle my two sweet little girls giggled irreverently during the whole prayer as I stood helplessly behind the woman saying the prayer.
R: If we get by a cow he will say "moooove"
Following a primary lesson at church, the older kids, I'm suspecting Lyda, put these papers on Ruby. She really is a good sport to go along with everything she's told. Poor kid.
M: Ruby we need to floss your teeth.
R: Nooooo!
M: Yes we do. It won't hurt.
R: No, I do not want my teeth to go down the potty.
M: Dental floss honey, we will not flush your teeth, just floss them.
R: Ok
Lyda got junk mail off of the front door. I told her to throw it away. She said, "No mom. How would you feel if you worked so hard putting these things on people's doors and they just threw your hard work away?"
Kode loves superheroes. We went to the library and he picked out a couple of books about them. One of them was a Wolverine book. The next morning he ran into my bedroom to wake me up and had pretzels between his fingers that he was using as blades, just like Wolverine. It was pretty clever.
We have this conversation almost daily. She's kind of strange.
R: I want to go home.
M: We are home.
R: Oh, are you my mom?
M: Yes I'm your mom.
R: And where'e my dad?
Following a super cool pirate party that Brad and Lisa threw for the nieces and nephews, (yep, they provide all of the fun for the kids) Kode thought he'd be clever and wear two eye patches.
Conversations in church.
K: Are germs alive?
M: Yes
K: Do they have guitars?
Kode has no concept of time. He constantly asks me if it is today.
M: Kode we are going on an airplane tomorrow.
K: Wait, how many days until tomorrow?
M: Tomorrow is after today Kode.
K: Is it today?
M: Yes, it is always today when you ask me that.
It is a wonder that kids ever figure out time. When you really try to explain it, it kind of sounds confusing.
R: I want to go to the Carson Pool.
M: We'll go next week.
K: Is it next week?
D: No. It will never be next week.
K: Mom, you lied.
M: No, I didn't. Next week will come, but it won't be called next week anymore. It will be this week.
Kode is always trying to one up Lyda and came up with this little gem.
K: I know something that you don't, that stop lights are bigger than you think.
