So a couple of little stories about my kids.
I'm a little late in reporting this, but Lyda is now missing two bottom teeth. They were loose around the start of kindergarten and within 2 weeks she'd wiggled them to the point that she could pull them out. The Tooth Fairy left her a $1 each time, to which she said, "Now I don't have to take money from your bedroom". I think she expected the amount to increase with each tooth though, she was a little disappointed that she didn't get a $2 bill the second time. The Tooth Fairy is so stingy!

She is the ultimate sucker when it comes to Saturday morning commercials. They write these things for her. Have you seen the leather purses that hold everything except for maybe your house and your car? They have a million pockets so that everything has its place. You can even fit an umbrella inside! Lyda has asked me on multiple occasions if I would like to buy one of those awesome purses, to which I always reply, "No, I don't want one". And then I am reminded, almost word for word about how truly cool they are and all of the things I would be able to carry with me. She will own one someday.
So the other thing that she thinks is soooo cool are those Aqua Globes. Those colorful glass tubes with a ball on the end that you fill up with water and stick them in your plants so you don't have to remember to water them all the time. She is dying to get some. So I recently showed her what I was giving my mom for her birthday, and she was so disappointed and said, "Ah man, I wanted to give her aqua globes". It was pretty funny. She's such a consumer, I can't imagine where she gets that from.
The other day Lyda asked me to put a ribbon in her hair because she wanted to be like Cinderella. I asked how she wanted it exactly. She showed me as she said, "Mom, I'm going for Cinderella here". I got a good laugh.
Kode, Kode, Kode! What a crack up all the time. The other day I found an empty jar that once had gold glitter in it. He comes walking into my bathroom and I see this sparkling spot on his head. He had dumped all of the glitter, aka pixie dust on his head, because he wanted to fly. I am still finding little specks of glitter in his hair though we have washed his hair and given a haircut since it happened.

There was a day last week that got super windy in the evening. Kode wanted to go outside so bad. It was dinner time and I didn't want to go outside and so I told him that I was afraid he would blow away if we went outside. So he stared out the window for a long time and then suddenly came running into the kitchen yelling, "Mom I saw a girl outside and she didn't blow away at all"! So I gave in and we ended up going outside and we had such a fun time playing out in the cooler, windy weather.
The other day Kode and I went to the grocery store. He insisted that I wear my baseball cap just like him. We wore them backwards and I asked him if I was cool because my hat was on backwards like him. He said, "No, you aren't cool". I said, "Oh really. Who's cool then?" "Just me and dad are cool". So I asked, "Why are you guys cool?" And he said, "Cause we have cool stuff". "What kind of stuff is cool?" I asked. "Arrows, and guns and stuff like that". I tried to convince him that I had cool stuff too, but I don't think he bought it.
I have said from day one what a good baby Ruby has been. She is such a good sleeper, and she's always just been so happy and pleasant. Well, these days she's becoming quite opinionated. Looks like we've done the easy baby, high maintenance toddler thing. I didn't think it was possible, but I now believe that Ruby is the most stubborn of all of our kids. She is a total army crawler. She refuses to get on her knees and instead insists on cleaning the tile floor with her belly. It has gotten me to mop my floor more often. She believes that I should be her personal chauffeur anytime that she wants. She will not sit down on the floor. She just wants to hold onto my fingers and walk wherever she chooses.

She is becoming quite vocal these days and she is full of laughs, especially when her siblings are acting goofy. She loves to dance and has most recently begun head banging. I love it when she purposely bangs her head on something that hurts her and then looks at me like it's my fault. Ruby seems to have a phobia of animals big or small. She is petrified of our gerbil. She will walk over (with my help of course) to the gerbil's cage and peek in and just freak out. It cracks me up that she chooses to go back again and again even though she's scared of it. Curious little mind I guess. She's also afraid of dogs and grandma's chickens. I guess that's about every animal she's been exposed to, so who know what else will top her list.
And yes, I can finally put her hair in pigtails, no matter how ridiculous it may look. I love it!
And this is my hot husband who works so stinkin' hard for us. So glad I married this man!
