T-Ball

Kode begged all year long for me to sign him up for T-ball. The day finally came and he couldn't have been more excited. Early on he struggled with the basics of the game. It became especially evident at one of the first practices. He had a batting helmet on and was bending over to pick up a couple of balls and he completely tumbled over on his head. To be fair those helmets are pretty heavy and the poor kid has a decent sized head, but I knew that we were in for quite an entertaining season. And he did not disappoint. While the majority of the team improved, Kode sort of stayed the same. He enjoyed playing at first but quickly got bored. I don't blame him, it sure isn't my favorite sport, but he stuck with it and didn't complain about going. (Although that may have been because he really looked forward to the treat at the end) Kode regularly pulled the T up as high as it would go, bang the bat on the dirt, swing and miss. He often came close to hitting his coach. After a few tries he would hit it and then leisurely run to first base grinning and giving a thumbs up on the way. He was so cute to watch. About halfway through the season Steve started calling him "our little scientist". I think T-ball just isn't his sport, he is now begging for me to sign him up for soccer. After his last game his team had a little award ceremony at Peter Piper Pizza. That may have been the highlight of the entire season for him.
